Do any of the machinist on here use one? I know that with a standard mill they are invaluable. With a 3-Axis mill, they are not needed. I just wonder how may people use one today? In the Toolroom that I work, I haven't used one in years.

One of our machinists here at work is building his own sine grinding vise for the manual grinders. You're right tho, he doesn't use one on the CNC at all.

As an amature I'm still working on getting things flat and at right angles to each other. Compound angles are not even on my radar.

Eventually, I will build one. I haven't encountered a need that can't be met with a sine plate or bar yet.

I use one on occasion on the surface grinder. Haven't used it on a mill in years. All that is CNC now.

I use a sine plate and sine bar. My Sine plate I made probably 20 years ago and I have various lengths of sine bars I've made over the years. They are invaluable with a 2 axis mill. A compound sine plate, it's probably been 2 years since I have used one for production. Most people I know doesn't know how to set them up correctly or the draftsman that we get our prints from doesn't understand compound angles. Go figure!!!

In a grinder I use to. Nowdays in our shop the diemakers send everything to cnc. I just run it all through a 5-axis. At home I'm still using angle plates and sine bars.
