Will take my impact and 3/8 to a friends house and want to bring a filter to protect my tools. Anyone have a suggestion for a small filter I can hook up inline? Any other suggestions for protection? I just got these and don't want them dead.

how much water do most water traps hold?

at the shop we have the compressors outside and then about 50 feet of metal tube before the line, and the thing shoots out more water than a hose. are there any cheap drainable water traps worth looking at?

Keith..Your shop should look into a refrigerated air dryer for your compressor. If you can find the size of the compressor, I can spec one out for you. If not, at least add an auto-tank drain to the compressor. If you have THAT much water, your compressor tank may be full of water, so drain it and then add the auto tank drain. It won't solve ALL of the problems, but it will help tremendously.

You would want a water trap at each drop. This allows the metal pipe to condense the water so you can catch more in the traps.

thanks for the input! I'll take a look at what size it is this week. we tried emptying the compressor on a daily basis but still shoots water 10 minutes later.

I was hoping for a cheap fix, because the compressors/lifts/etc are owned by the landlord and we're already having to repair one of the lifts this week, but we have a few too many broken air tools around which I can only assume is because the water blows all of the oil out of them
