Compressed air in concrete?

My garage foundation was poured last week....started framing a couple of days ago....while drilling the holes for a couple of anchors for the side door threshold...as the concrete drill went down about 1", I got a small blast of air and dust....happened on all 3 holes....in one hole, I got 2 blasts.

I can see where maybe air pockets are created....they could be small...but as the concrete cures and creates heat, it creates more pressure.....

Has anyone seen this before?

What is probably happening is that air is getting trapped in the hole by the drilling process. If you slightly lift the drill to remove the dust while the drill is still running and then push it back to the bottom of the hole you compress the trapped air and it blows out the dust is a puff. Concrete does not compress entrained air during curing. Nothing abnormal about it.

Everytime I drill in concrete I get the same thing, it is normal. I would suggest that before you install the anchor that you do get some compressed air and blow out the hole of any remaining debris, so you have a clean hole to set your anchor in.
