compression tester adapters

I have a mint condition MAC ct60 compression tester that has served me well and I want to stay with. The issue is that for some engines the 14mm thread is way too long. Tried to use it on my outboard and I luckily hand rotated the motor to find out the piston was hitting the adapter. Any known cheap replacements for the end?

I know there is a set of cheap adapters at Oreily to expand to many other thread types but it is based off the 14mm being the male thread that it mounts on......I need a new 14mm: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...rformance-tool-compression-tester/pfm0/w80577

If not, I will use a few washers and orings but would rather have it nice without having to replace this with an offshore replacement.

Does that have a quick disconnect on the gauge side of that hose(though I'm thinking it's older then the ones that did)?

how about just shortening he threads on the adapter you have?
The schrader valve pretty much starts immediately (I'd run out and look but this crazy April snowstorm is going on right now).

Does that have a quick disconnect on the gauge side of that hose(though I'm thinking it's older then the ones that did)?
Yeah, my harbor freight one did but you'd have to add like 18 lbs to the reading and the gauge had an odd metric thread and was not upgradeable. This older girl doesn't have the quick disconnect and all the attachments.

The unknown is how thick the end where the Schrader valve threads are some have a hole drilled the size of the threads only as deep as the threads go then open up to a larger size for the hose attachment, you mat be able to tell if you take the valve out the probe to see if it's possible to cut off and rethread the Schrader.

Why do you have to add 18lbs to the quick disconnect type? The valve should be opened by the fitting itself. Was it just the HF gauge was off?

Any more I use the leak down tester more then a compression gauge it's becoming more about relative compression or leakage as more and more manufacturers don't give compression numbers.

Yes, it was the updated HF gauge set with the schraders (they used to not have valves in the attachment hoses) but the gauge was just way off.

I never went in the garage today but tomorrow I'll see what this adapter is all about. I'm going to take it off and see what the other threads are too. Funny, I have a brand new Proto lead down that I haven't used yet (its only been 3 years or so).

Ok, so I was wrong the schrader is recessed. But there is no need to make the threads shorter since the other side is also a 14mm (I thought that might have been the case). So problem adverted....will probably pick up the $10 adapter kit from O'reily next time I'm in there just to keep the bases covered. Thanks for all the tips.
