Compressor delivery

I will be getting a new 60 gal Quincy compressor soon. I'll probably get a compressor from northerntool and will use their delivery. So my question is once they drop it off in my driveway how do I get it in the garage? Engine hoist and straps? Does anyone of pics of how they handled this? Thanks.

Provided you dont mind taking the pump and motor off 2 reasonably strong guys can deal with it no problem by simply carrying it. You could easily do it yourself with a hand truck provided you were on flat paved ground the whole way also.

It'll come on a pallet. Assuming you want it off the pallet, you should be able to get it onto a dolly with help. Or borrow/rent a pallet jack.

I got my IR SS3L3 off of the pallet and onto the rolling platform I made for it, with no help. I'm not a big or young guy. I used a thin scrap sheet of black Delrin to assist in sliding it onto the platform. I'm very glad I put it on the rolling platform. Initially I did it just to make it easier to take it with me when I move, but I've rolled it out of its location several times now when cleaning up shop dust.

Just walk it using the pallet. Grab the pump, tip it a bit and have at it.

If I can do it without trouble... (I have a fubar'd back... some days it's a challenge to walk) I think most anyone can... kind of same idea as rolling a fuel drum. They are about 450lbs when full, but they aren't hard to tip and roll on the edge with just 1 person.

you can scoot that compressor no problem. Try lifting a 80 gallon by yourself

If it's vertical and on a pallet, you can use a hand truck to move it. If it's horizontal, put a furniture dolly underneath it.

Don't lift it.

And confirm that the delivery truck will have a lift gate -- unless your place has a loading dock.

My buddy got his 60gal in and over a 6ft rise on a moving dolly and engine hoist. He said it was easy as cake.

Oh and on large stationary compressors it pays to plumb the tank drain outside. His is near the man door so he just flips a hose out the door and cracks a ball valve he installed. keeps from blasting that nasty water all over your garage.

It'll be on a pallet, so you should be able to move it with an engine hoist. Just extend the legs way out, and drop it on some 2x4's on the legs of the hoist and roll it into the garage
