compressor discharge line question

is there any idea why some compressors have a short discharge line and some have a longer one coiled up?

Short is cheaper.

Long dissipates more heat before the air enters the receiver.

Another reason for the coil is to take up vibration so the line don't crack at the flare.

single stage compressors have a short discharge line.

2 stage compressors have a coiled discharge line between the LP & HP cylinders, then a shorter line to the tank

so on my single stage just keep the short one?

The coil allows for cooling of the air.
Cool air is denser and you can pack more "engery" into a given tank is the air is cool.
