Compressor fitting ?

Hey guys, I'm about to install an after cooler on my Champion VR5-8 compressor and I'm using AN fittings and surelok connectors but I have a question about what fitting I need to adapt an AN fitting to the compressor head. Without removing the fitting and checking what type it is (down time, professional shop...) does anyone know if it's a flare? The copper line going to the tank is in question, the tank side is 3/4 OD compression. Picture below isn't my setup, just a photo I found online. Thanks in advance!!!

Maybe.. but what would seal the copper tube to the nut? I assume it's some kind of flare or bubble, but I don't have enough experience with this type of plumbing to make any judgement. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

I have pipe to AN fittings on hand for everything but the compressor head... I measured the fitting going into the compressor head and by the measurement it is 3/4 inch pipe thread but could also be 3/4 straight NPT w/ flare. I guess I will buy a 3/4 compression to 3/4 pipe to have on hand if the head ends up being a flare that I don't have on hand; I can atleast cobble together until I can order the proper fitting. Thanks again!

The tank is going to be pipe threads. I'd just cut the copper line and go compression to pipe thead fittings. Unless you have AN fittings already, it's easier to go with pipe fittings.

The tank will be NPT, BUT that brass adapter screwed into the tank is NOT just an elbow connecting the pipe to the tank. That is your check valve, and it is not a good idea to remove it.

The fitting might be an inverse flare. Call Champion's customer service and see if they'll tell you. Alternatively, look up the part number and get the description as it will sometimes give you the sizes of the fittings.

For all those curious or for anyone in the future that might need the info... the head has a flare fitting that uses a normal farrel for compression. Champion uses 3/4 OD tube which is an odd ball for most hardware stores.

The -AN fittings can also be found as as 37 degree JIC (Joint Industry Council). Amongst others, Parker makes a wide variety of tube fittings that will work in hydraulic service, should be just fine for air compressor duty. The JIC fittings may be cheaper than the -AN versions.
