I'm thinking about buying this compressor as it is portable and has a output of 5.5com @ 90 psi mor than enough for the stuff I need to use (nail guns, impact, ratchet ete..)

What I'd like to know is could a person hook up a 60gal air tank to this compressor when I would need alot of air (probably not that often given the cfm rating)?

Would it damage the pump?

I need a small compressor (portability) anyway and thought this might save me from buying a larger compressor If the one I have dosent pan out.

It could damage the pump. The pump will be rated for a specific duty cycle based on the tank it is designed to be used with.

If it runs for 30 minutes at a time to fill a larger tank, things could happen.

those are meant for a crew to use some nailguns and charge up again when depleted slightly, is not meant for hard long running time.

Also there are many discussion here on putting extra tanks.. the conclusion is pretty much, just get a bigger pump that can handle what you need.
