my garage is set up for custom paint and the compressor is really loud, the problem is i live in minnesota and im worried about the tank feezing. would a small heated slab be enough heat.

Welcome to the site.
I assume since you're mentioning the compressor being loud that its inside the garage. If you're painting inside the garage it should be warm enough to take care of the compressor. Drain the tank daily or at least as often as you use it and I wouldn't think you would have any problems with if freezing. I don't think just a small heated slab would radiate enough heat to help the compressor.

What you need to do is route the intake somewhere outside of the garage as it's the intake that makes most of the noise.

You wouldn't happen to have a direct drive compressor, would you?......

I SAID YOU WOULDN'T HAPPEN TO HAVE A DIRECT DRIVE COMPRESSOR WOULD YOU?
