I need a little help with this one. I picked up this pump and tank at an estate sale but there are no sheaves and I have no idea how fast it should run or what hp is appropriate. Does anyone have any information on the pump. The tank was certified in 56. The pump is a four cylinder reed valve two stage.

"I picked up this Scaife & Sons (Oakmont, PA) 1938 compressor over the weekend"
(but he's talking about the tank label, not the pump)
The pictures look like your pump.

and post #91 he says
"D614 is molded into both cylinders, and there are some random-looking numbers stamped in a flat area between the 2 cylinders."

Thanks yatg. That is definitely it. At least I can see the relative size of the the sheaves. That gives me a good idea of where to go.

That's a refrigeration compressor set up to pump air. The lines are a bit confusing though.
