I recently picked up a compressor (for free) to start a compressor build for my garage. friend got it as part of a lot at a heavy equipment auction and didn't want to deal with it. It is replacing the current 60 gallon single stage (need more air.) any way got this compressor and i am just basically try to get some information on the head, its not that old but i can't find any information on it. Its a le roi dresser unit. model number is tru 7.5 has wayne cast in pump. the tank it was on was date stamped 1986. Any info would be great. Here is a couple of pics with a propane bottle for size reference on one cylinder, pump is huge. I did hook it up to a small motor 3hp and it pumped right up to 130psi no problem before i cut it off, didn't want to stress the small motor to much. Also picked up a 80 gallon tank for it, hydro tested it, it was good to go. Have a new motor coming for it this week a 7.5hp single phase. anyway any info on the pump would be great, just want to know for future reference if i can get parts for it if need be. please forgive messy garage working 7 days week right now no time at home at all.

Le roi / Dresser / Wayne pumps can be a real bear to find info on. I've been searching for the past 15min and can't turn up anything on a TRU-7.5.

Can you post a few more pics of the unit? Just a WAG, probably a 7.5HP max, ~800 RPM two stage compressor, output ~15-25CFM @ 90psig.

You may want to give these folks a call. This is about the only place I could find any mention of the TRU-** model.

yeah i gave up on finding any real info on it, I now it puts out massive amount of air compared to my old 3.3 hp 60 gallon single stage. When i picked mine up it was hooked up to a one inch air line running a heavy equipment service shop. wieghed the pump by it self the other day, was right around 170lbs. Haven't reaaly touched it, i have a new 7.5 hp leeson motor sitting in my front room along with starter and pressure switch. Got an old scaife 80 gallon tank for it hydro tested the tank that is about as far as i have gotten. still need a pulley for the motor then start painting and assembling. Don't have anymore pictures, It is also very quite, i had it spining a bit slow at about 550rpms with the 3hp motor but it was quite and pumped up very fast. like under a minute from 0 to 140psi on a 30 gallon tank. Can't wait to get it together in its final trim and paint a car. my last paint job my current compressor was lacking in my final coat of clear, i was waiting on it to catch up and i can see it on those panels where i ran out of air.

We usually condemn these machines as parts for them are impossible to find even for a company in the industry like my Dad's.
