Compressor Lead Hose

I might be missing something really obvious here, but how do you guys connect your lead hose off your compressor to your filer or hard-lines, Recoils etc. Neither end of my hose has a swivel, so once the first end is threaded in, I cannot twist the 2nd end in. I tried twisting the hose so that when I uncoil it, I thread it some, but its not enough. Any suggestions? Should I just use a quick coupler to connect? Thanks

When I had the hose made I had them use one swivel fitting. Because you already have a hose, I would recomend a quick connect so you can run a hose straight off the compressor if you need to.

Use a union to connect the mainline to the hose reel.

I just had my local hydraulic shop make up a 18 inch 3/4 hose. Cost me $29 with one swivel end.

I had a friend get me a couple sets of WECO 1" unions out of the warehouse. I can't remember the series they are.

I have a 25ft air hose used as the lead hose to my reel and coil up the unused portion. That way I can reconfigure it for whatever I need on the fly.

The problem with plumbing unions is they are designed and mfg for water and water pressure type PSI.
Usually around 40 to 60 PSI.
So they may or may not leak.
They are a good first try.
But don’t be surprised if they leak.
My best experience has been a local NAPA store that does big rig air brake hoses.

Cheap 25$ when ends are on sale, plus it can take the heat, pressure and vibration.

Plumbing unions work fine. The good forged 3/4" units are usually rated for 3000PSI working at 150°F with air, water, oil, and steam. The Home box store cast or malleable iron units should have a working pressure of 150PSI so they will be OK for 100PSI. If you need higher pressure get the forged units.

My water pressure is 125PSI.

I used a 3' x 3/4" hydro hose from Tractor Supply ($15) and a 3/4 black iron union. Plus a 3/4 gate valve from the spare plumbing box.
