So over my weekend I was given a 28 gallon Campbell Hausfeld tank with no motor. I currently own a 15 gallon Porter Cable Compressor that I would like to move over if it seems to make sense. It would allow a higher PSI and also larger storage tank. The following are the specs for each and I am looking for any ideas or suggestions if possible.

Porter Cable

Both of these items where acquired through time and I have no major amount of money invested in them. I have more money in my hose reel than either of the compressors. For the use I sometimes use small grinders or sanders and have yet to use my cheap impact wrench with it yet.

No benefit to move over the Porter Cable oil-less compressor to CH tank. Instead, begin building an airline system and tie-in the larger CH tank into the system (could install this CH tank up on wall near ceiling). This will make the little PC compressor more useful with the greater tank storage - - ie have 1/2" quick connect for PC to tie-into your tank/airline system.

Keep the PC as your mobile 120v compressor for as long as it lasts - - that screamer won't last forever . . ;) For the CH tank, be watching CL for cast iron compressor and belt-driven motor as your "large" compressor. You might stumble upon an older Sears/Craftsman oil-splash on horizontal tank (ie belt driven 120v/240v motor) where tank is rusting out (somewhat common).

Eventually, your makeshift "large" compressor can be replaced with 5 HP 60 gal 240v and tied into your airline system. See Strouty thread on black pipe steel airline system he built for ideas.

Maybe by then your PC oil-less will have died and your CH "hybrid" will now be your portable compressor on 120v. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice I have been reading posts for the last hour about the oil less ones... Cannot beat it though as I got the tank along with everything else for $70. Yeah the larger tool box is an old Kennedy, smaller one is Craftsman, and the roller cabinet is Stor-Loc.
