I picked up a compressor without a motor recently. I have a 1.5 hp Marathon motor that is rated at 3450rpm but when I attached it to the tank and compressor head I think it is rotating far too fast. Is there a way to decrease the rpm's to 1725? I could try to find another pulley but wondering if I can do it electrically.

Thanks.

Can't slow the motor down.. Your best bet is to find a motor pulley that is 1/2 the size you have IF the pulley your using is the correct one for the 1725 rpm motor. Your pulley ratio needs to be 3450/950 or near 3.5/1.

Your motor pulley is way too big. Get a much smaller pulley, and it should work OK... Larry's 3.5 to 1 is about right, you could even go 4 to 1 if you don't mind a lower output rate.
