I looked on Amazon and there are some different silencers on there. 10scfm to 55scfm, more expensive as they increase. Does that matter? I notice they get larger as well. Does size matter?
I think all you need to do is get the right size for your needs. My memory is hazy, but I think I selected mine (pretty much the wee one) based on the output, clearly labelled on my compressor.
My Campbell-Hausfeld drain extender is at the botom of this pic, too.
My compressor is like yours -- belt drive, two cylinders, but I think less HP (your sticker is obstructed) and I have no idea how much air pump displacement right now. One tip people have given in these situations is to time your compressor's pump-up from kick-on to kick-off with and without the intake muffler, if you're concerned about restriction.
There are many threads on GJ about quieting compressors, other factors like location, sound reflecting walls or corners, enclosures.
My belt guard is stamped sheet metal and I did put a strip of small weatherstrip foam between it and the motor/pump platform. and that helped a little, too.
Hey, wait, I've got a spare one now. Wanna buy a Solberg FS-06-050? PM me.
