Compressor Oil Change

It is time to change the oil in my compressor, since it has been in there for a long time. I got the replacement oil and filter directly from the Quincy dealer, so I know that I have the correct weight. My question is... Should I run the compressor so the oil will be hot when I drain it, or is it OK to drain it cold. The oil in the sump is as clean as the day it was originally installed, and since I don't use the compressor very often, it never got to the number of hours suggested for changing. I have probably put no more than 50 running hours on it in the last 15 years.

I run my compressor a few minutes to warm up the oil, it helps it to flow out better and I suppose it would kick up the sludge on the bottom to get a more complete change.

Mine went for 15-20 years. Since mines holds less than a qt I changed it, ran it, changed it again. It runs quieter now if you can believe that. I just used plain 30 wt non detergent oil from the auto parts store.
