Compressor Oil?

I have a 2HP Montgomery Ward 20 Gallon Air Compressor circa 1970. Got it off of craigslist for $90. It works great I have been using it a while then I realized the oil has probably not been changed in a while. So I went out and bought some Kobalt non-detergent compressor oil. I decided it might be a good idea to check the manual to make sure I could use that. The manual(c.1970) said to use regular 10w30. Should I use 10w30 or are the new synthetics better?

Honestly as long as there is oil in those old things they will run pretty much forever. I would use the compressor oil since you have it though.

I would use whatever the manufacturer specs. If they spec 10w-30, use it.
In my opinion, synthetic oil is superior to non-synthetic, no matter what kind of oil it is.
Most compressors use less than a quart of oil. Why not use the best money can buy?

I would use full synthetic oil or motor oil like Mobil 1. Thats what I use in mine and thats what it said to use in the manual. Its cheaper than regular compressor oil when you buy it by the quart.
