Well am finishing up my shop 36x40 with a second floor and thought I would have plenty of space for everything. WRONG My question as I start to lay everything out is putting the compressor outside. I live in Delaware and freezing temps are around for about three months of the year. I was gonna place it inside but would like to keep that area open and am leaning towards keeping outside for space. Have found the advice of rubber mounts automatic drains screen for air flow, thinking synthetic oil for pump, Heat lamp for really cold days? Any other advice, pros and cons from experience would be greatly appreciated.

This subject has been pretty well hashed out on GJ, and usually boils down to the basic inside/outside choice. For myself, it also involved security and weather issues, noise being not important. I chose to put my new A/C in an inside corner away from everything between two exterior doors. I live in a very rural area, where the two biggest problems are the drug users and harsh weather, neither of which can I control. So inside it's safe from theft and the hard weather extremes. I'm too fond of my compressor to expose it to the heat and cold that happens where I live on the side of my mountain, plus it has very convenient access for maintenance.
