Ok, similar to the other thread where you post a picture of your compressor, but this time I want to see the numbers...

If you don't see your compressor model listed, go to the other thread here and vote:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8607

If you still don't see your brand listed, choose "Other..." and post a reply to let us know brand you have.

You can choose more than one.

FYI, all of the Husky and Ridgid (Home Depot) compressors are made by Campbell Hausfeld. Some of the Iron Force (Lowes) are too. Most of the recent Craftsman units are made by Devilbiss, which is now part of Black & Decker.

I just got a Briggs & Stratton Brute $100 from Wal-wart. oiled, 10gal. 2-1/2 hp (running) motor. Works pretty good so far. The 15 gal has the same motor, so I figure I can have 5 gallons worth if air plumbing when I get to that.

That thing is awesome!! - are they still in business? where can you get them?
Is that one a 2-stage or just a twin piston - kinda tough to tell from the picture (well it looks like a 2-stage, but the other sleeves look "oblong")

Emglo 5HP 2 stage V4 80 gal. horizontal. Large-frame motor. It's about 20 years old. I understand Emglo is now a BD/DeWalt brand.

I also have a Kellogg-American 2 cyl 60 gal vertical. It is in pieces and the pump needs to be rebuilt.

I saw you had voted for the "Other" choice on this thread, evintho.

My Saylor Beall is a two tage unit. I bought it from an auction and had to buy a new single phase motor. I bought a Baldor for $800 new. IR compressors are made overseas as well as there air tools. Saylor is still in Mich. Perhaps some of the larger Campfield's are still made here. Kellogg was and went out of bus when they tried to get them made in Japan and they were all junk.

the oblong portionas are cooling fins. The other cylinders are behind the first and obscured by the pic angle

What?!? IR is made in USA, no? Some of their tools are made overseas, but most are made here, IIRC.

I just got an IR 121 air hammer which is made in China:( I don't seem to mind the stuff I know is made there but to think I'm buying something made here & find out it isn't is a bummer.

No problem. Hard to make a poll when the max number of choices is 10! Hence 2 threads...

Actually I don't think IR ever manufactured impacts in NYS, the NY address was for the corporate headquarters which at one time was in NYC. Most of the US made tools are manufactured in Athens, PA.

Sanborn for me. It was a gift from my wife several years ago. Its oiled, 2 stage and 30 gal<?>, It works great but is noisy but I guess they all are. I understand non oiled ones are real noisy. I'm glad I don't have one of those! Crazy lady next door WOULD have a cow then!

I wish I had a place to put it outside the garage. Not allowed to per the HOA and I don't have an attic or crawl space above. No Basement below the garage per building codes. :(

Looks like a strange little creation, seriously when it starts to look like a race car, isn't it cheaper to just buy one?

B&D/DeWalt sold the large compressor line to Jenny, the steam cleaner people, as they were not interested in keeping the line going. Jenny was previously making components for Emglo anyhow, so it was a good deal for them.

Please show me where you can get a *new* 5hp Baldor, 18cfm@100 p.s.i air compressor with intercooler, water seperator, regulator, and runs off either a standard pressure switch, or with head unloaders for continuous run while sandblasting, for $900. Oh, and with a 30 gallon tank so it fits the space I have. I have a hard time believing it.
