Compressor Pump ID

A little help please... I recently purchased the pump as part of a package including a Baldor1.5 hp motor and a 60 gallon Devilbiss tank dated 1964. I suspect the pump is not original to the package.

I get the pump home and discover it has a piston/rod that is destroyed. Therefore, I need parts.

Problem is... I haven't been able to identify the pump manufacturer. The only number on the pump is CAW17E. One poster on another thread suggested it looks like a Champion pump, Champion was called, and they have no records of a CAW 17E pump.

Anybody got any idea what kind of pump this is?

Here's what I have, it's most likely just a CAW1 pump. Let me know if you managed to get parts for it, noone seems to stock the parts for my Champion pump (later revision of yours, has slightly bigger pistons).

I think you've nailed it. Looks like the CAW1. Alot of the images in your attached document look similiar to my pump. According to the Mccenzie site, the CAW1 has (2) 2.75 dia pistons and (1) 1.75dia. There got to be a stock piston out there that will fit this thing...

thanks BurgerKong, the exploded view will come in handy if I ever find someone that supplies parts. I was surprised at the newness of the manual (rev '99), yet Champion does not recognize the pump as theirs.

At least Champion gave you an answer. I was unable to get a satisfactory response to my inquiries regarding which ring and gasket kit is the correct set (since there are two different part numbers). Are you repainting and rebuilding? I think I am just going to rebuild mine for the time being, it was ran hard for those five years.

I really don't know what I'm going to do until I find and price the parts, If the parts are $200 plus, I 'll be looking for a different 2 stage.

It's weird they went with a 2 stage design first, then revised it to a single stage, specs are identical.
