You might want to check around locally and see if there is a company that performs these tests. The testing fee might be cheaper than DIY parts and pieces.

Another revival- we have the k7060hfv compressor, my husband had it several years at his old place and it was awesome, run anything we both could want to use at the same time, plasma cutter+ sander or media blaster, etc... When we moved it to our new place he hadn't built the lean to off the back of the new shop building yet, and kept saying he was going to but never got to it, fast forward 6 months, I keep telling him it's not sounding like it did, tone changed (he doesn't hear the best after 30 years of operating backhoe) and I find out he's NEVER changed the oil in it, in several years.... I picked up the oil (yes non detergent compressor oil) and few more weeks later he finally drains the sludge it had in it, about half the capacity worth was all it had. Ran for a little bit, and done... I tore it down and unfortunately the bottom end is toast, no rebuilding it... I can get a few pictures if anyone is interested in the results from that level of neglect, it's not pretty... So, in my research the ns18s pump is a B3800 with a different flywheel. Naturally, there's not a knock off version out there (that I can find), no harbor freight equivalent or anything... It's about $300 to get a ABAC genuine replacement ns18s pump. Has anyone used a different pump that they were able to make work, even with some fabrication or alterations? I really need a high cfm output compression going again, we have a few small semi portable ones but nothing I can run a air sander or media blaster with....

I built a Frankenstein air compressor using a bunch of free parts. What I learned in the process is that as long as the pump and motor match RPMs and HP, you can use just about anything. I had to drill mounting holes for the pump in the top of the air compressor mount and had to make some interesting brackets to mount the motor on mine.

I'd suggest getting the information off of the motor plate and finding out the RPMs and actual HP rating of the motor. Then going to HF and getting any of their pumps that would match your motor. You might have to drill new mounting holes and possible make new copper lines if they don't reach the new pump's output.

Here's the thread where I got help selecting a motor. It has a link to the other threads

Welcome to the Forum. I recently, about 6 months ago declined a free repairable compressor from a Laundry and Dry cleaner because I had no real need for it and no way to haul it to my shop where I could fix it.

Watch Craigs List, that is where I saw the compressor listed. The Dry Cleaner had purchased a replacement because the compressor was critical to his operation, and not being a mechanic the downtime was costing him more than the replacement cost of the compressor.

Sounds Like your husband married very well.
