Compressor pump rotation

Hate to bring up old questions... But I'm curious. A while ago I posted about a compressor I'm reviving from the dead. My question, in terms of the motor.... Does it make a difference in which direction it turns (CW vs CCW)? Currently, it's setup as a CCW, but the pulley on the compressor can be removed and flipped, theoretically reversing the air back onto the compressor with the change of rotation, correct? I'm just wondering if there is any mechanical risk or anything that affects the pump. Or if maybe instead of pumping air, does it create a vacuum instead?

Depends, what compressor pump is it? Some of the larger ones have oil pumps that needs to be turning the proper direction for lubrication. Also have to make sure the pulley fins are flowing air the proper direction.

Most important to me would be is it oiling correctly? Confirm how the oil lubricates the rod and you will probably answered your own question.
