Compressor pump swap question

Picked up a 5HP standup compressor from auction the other day, and got it home only to find out the compressor head/ pump is cracked, likely my own doing when we were loading it.

I bought it to replace an older horizontal compressor of mine.

My question is, could I swap the pump off my other compressor to the upright tank and motor?

The difference is the old pump runs off a 1.5HP 1750rpm motor, the new motor is 5HP and 3450rpm. There isn't much I can do with changing pulley sizes and would have to use the parts as is.

Anyone see any issue with this? I attached a picture of the pump for reference.

It may be ok or it may ventilate the crankcase. Many cheaper compressors put a large 5hp 3600 rpm motor and turn a smaller compressor twice as fast to get volume. This overheats the air, is not as efficient, and is noisy as hell. But as to if your pump can't take it, who knows from what info (lack of)you posted. Brand and model number?

A good oversize pump/1750 motor combo is going to be much cooler and quieter.

Yeah don't have much info on the old pump, no bashing or anything on it. It's around 7cfm, as far as I've been able to judge, dual cylinder pump.

But just dug into the tank and found its no good for pressure, bottom is pretty well rusted out, but still interested in swapping motors. The noise doesn't bother me.

I could make room easy enough. Good idea, I could then slow it down enough to work.

In the only town in Pennsylvania, Bloomsburg.
If your flywheel, pistons are rated for 3600, technically you can do it (unlikely), if not hope you like shrapnel; have some roof patching materials on hand, perhaps the nearest hospital on speed dial.

In all practicality, you do not want to try and run a pump at double the speed it was made for.

I guess that will be the trick, need to find out what the pump is rated for and go from there..

Thanks guys.
