Compressor question

Hi all,
I'm a newbie with compressors. I just bought this one:

http://www.dewalt.com/tools/compressors-wheeled-portable---electric-d55146.aspx

I turn it on and dial the regulator to the right many many turns and pull it out to 'lock' it. According to the instructions this sets the desired pressure. Then I wait and wait, for 10 minutes even, and the pressure indicators never budge. From what I've read online it shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to get to 125psi or so. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I have a hose attached with a fitting where when you pull the trigger on the fitting a tiny amount of air comes out.

Thanks in advance,
Anne

Turn it the other way, counter-clockwise until it stops, then pull out. Once up to pressure, then turn clockwise to the desired pressure.

Double check that your release valve on the bottom of the compressor isn't open. If it's open, as the compressor is trying to take in air to build pressure, the air is immediately leaving the tank via the release valve.
...not sure what model you have but the release valves are usually little round knobs or a "T" looking wing nut that you turn to open and close.
Make sure you drain all of the air out of the compressor every time you are finished using it. That will prevent rusting on the inside of the tank from the moisture in the air.
Hope that helps.

Hi guys,
That was it - it was the release valve that was open. Closed it and it worked like a champ.

Thanks very much!
