I drained the water out of my 6 gallon compressor and I had some oil in the water. Is that normal?

Yes, perfectly normal for an oil-lubricated reciprocating compressor.

The oil control ring must leave some oil on the cylinder walls to lubricate the rings. A portion of this oil is vaporized and leaves the cylinder with the compressed air due to turbulence within the cylinder. A portion of the vapor condenses on the walls of the receiver and ends up in the water condensate when drained.
