Compressor Question

Hi all,
Just have a quick question about a compressor attachment. I have only had experience with really small compressors and have recently acquired a used Campbell Hausfeld 5hp. In the photos included is an attachment that came with the compressor.....can I assume that it will connect to the same outlet as the older one in the photo?

As long as the connectors are of the same type it will connect. They make more then one type.

the connection from the compressor is threaded pipe...will fit into one side of the new attachment. Can you tell me exactly what the new attachment is?

There are more than a few "standard" compressed air connectors, find the one thta matches the majority of what you already have and stick with that.

the attachment on your compressor is a regulator, a water separator and an oiler .
it will probably fit, but depends on the thread size. your old compressor is probably 1/4" pipe, the newer larger compressor could be that, or maybe even 3/8 or 1/2 .
as mentioned above, there are diffrent kinds of couplers, and yours may or may not be compatible

Also, be aware that if you intend to use the compressed air for painting, you do NOT want an oiler in the line.

After a phone call, I have discovered the previous owner was an autobody man, and I'm thinking this new attachment does NOT have an oiler as you say. I'll try and finmd the info on it on the net, but I assume that if there's no oiler, then oil applied at the tool would be the best way to go?

Don't assume there's no oiler connected, check it out. A couple of drops in the fitting of the airtool at the beginning of the day will do it. With exception of my higher priced airtools like my 3/32 Dynabrade orbital sander, some of my tools get "neglected" and I may missed an oiling, or two.

It's pipe. you connect it to whatever you want. Small compressor stuff, and that Harbor Freight quick connect you picture, are what-we-call 1/4" size, but that's not the actual size. you can see there is an adapter in there. that adapter is 1/4" to 3/8". You can see it. In your second picture the actual connections are 100% invisible.

Years ago, my uncle told me this story. He was in Norton, VA, and he saw this sign pointing down a little country road and the sign says "Tacoma ---->". So a guy comes along the road on a bicycle and he looks like he might be the town fool. My uncle asked "What's down this road?" and the guys says "Tacoma." "Where does the road go after Tacoma?" The guy thought it over and said "All over the world"

That's the way pipe is.

I now have a bit of a problem. The compressor fell over when the dolly I was moving it on lost a wheel, and now some parts that were broken as a result are listed as "no longer available". This compressor is otherwise in good shape, and it seems a shame to write it off for the sake of a few plastic parts. The parts I need are the OBS shroud cover and the blower wheel. Where's a guy going to find these parts? Most of the online retailers list them as no longer available so what do I do now?
