Looking for a new Compressor to replace a 15 yr old 5hp/13 gallon Campbell Housfelt compressor. Looking for a standing unit as it takes less space for couple hundred dollars.
I am a shade tree weekend mechanic. Use it from time to time for running pneumatic tools.

Thx

Not going to find that for "a couple hundred dollars". The 3.5 HP Campbell/Husky/etc units with a cast iron compressor, 60 gallon run $450~490 and 5 HP units start around $800. I have a 3.5HP 60 gallon Campbell upright that I got on sale for $399 10 years ago, works just fine for everything including air tools and painting cars.

Falcon67 -Just wondering why 60 gallons. Assuming it won't run as often. Hmmm. The 13 gallon has been ok for my use.

Too little information . . . you have 120v only . . . . or 240v available ??'

For that price point (ie $200) that you're wanting, your best bet is Used belt-driven oil splash like a horizontal 20 gal SpeedAire, Craftsman, CH, etc. The "spray paint" version of the SpeedAire is an excellent compressor with 120v/240v capability.

In general, you'll pay more for upright 30 gal belt driven compressor like a Puma, DeWalt, Craftsman, Porter Cable, etc. There was sale at Tractor Supply for around $350 for Porter Cable on Black Friday.

Might want to "Dream Shop" on following website to get configuration ideas:
www.aircompressorsdirect.com

. . . . .then start hounding CL like a hawk until you find compressor you want.

Most vertical tank will be at least 30 gal size tank. Been stated on GJ here many times, get cast iron belt drive compressor for best life and lowest noise. New vertical tank with CI belt driven compressor will be about double your $200 budget.
