Cool...thanks Brian & Alan!!

The check valve looks very simple and I kinda figured it wasn't bad. The very short distance between the output of the HP cylinder and the check valve certainly makes sense that it making noise due to the pulsing...

Thanks for the insight fellas!!!

Here is the response I received from the Technical Service Manager at FS Curtis regarding my question about some free Curtis stickers for my compressor:

"Robert,
Please provide the Model of the compressor pump and hp of the electric motor. I will see what I can do to provide the current decal kit.

The compressor looks awesome
."

Let's hope that I get something in the mail soon!!!

I just received this from FS Curtis:

Happy New Year Robert,

I have sent a label kit to you that we currently use via FEDEX Ground service for your CA Series 5 HP. I hope you will be satisfied with the new design. If I find any other decals to enhance your project I will send them and let you know.

Please send a picture or two when you complete your project.

Thank you, Ray, for treating me like a human being and not a customer ID number of random phone call. This kind of customer interaction and service impresses me tremendously :):):)

PS: This has nothing to do with free...because i would have paid for a decal set...

Hopefully the stickers won't have unicorns and polka dots.:bounce:

Burgie -

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same compressor and am rebuilding it as well. All the literature on this pump from Curtis shows an unloader system running from each of the cylinders. Mine was plugged like yours is. Why didn't you install the unloader system on the cylinders when you did the rebuild? Just curious.

Thanks,

Scott

No need for unloaders if you are running stop-start with a blow down between cycles

Head unloaders are necessary when running 100% duty cycle, or so close to it that the compressor is cycling excessively. At that point, it is better to operate the compressor full time and let it run unloaded rather than subjecting all of your electrical components to repeated high-amperage starting loads. It also allows your flywheel fan to cool off the cylinders. You would need a pilot unloading valve and a ball valve to switch it in and out of the control air circuit to the pressure switch.

BTW, this is a Chinese Fu Sheng pump. Fu Sheng bought Curtis and a part of Elliot compressors. We could sell entire Fu Sheng pumps dirt cheap, so I am not surprised that the rebuild kit included entire rod assemblies. They are actually pretty good pumps.

Thanks Mac. That is helpful.

Mine showed the same issue on the high pressure bushing as Burgie's, but my kit only came with new low pressure rods. The new low pressure rods are cast aluminum and do not have bushings in them, so the connecting rod is the wear part. I ended up ordering a new high pressure rod as the new roller bearings require a larger opening than the old bushing.

I have an e50 pump that is need of a rebuild. Where is the best source for an overhaul kit for this Curtis?

Thank you,
Brad

Not sure if it is the best place, but I purchased my rebuild parts from Industrial Air Power. Link is here: http://store.industrialairpower.com/

I ordered:
CF1254 E50 Rebuild Kit
CF1253 E50 Gasket/Valve Maint Kit

I have two new extra low pressure connecting rods. If you are interested in those, send me a PM and we can work something out.
