So ive been wanting to get just a smaller 10 gallon oil lubed compressor. Airing up tires, balls, blow out, etc. Also enough to crack a lug nut off. We have impact wrenches but never had a compressor. (different story).
So I found a cheap model I liked. A little 10 Gallon oil lubed Husky. $150. HD no longer carries them even online. Cant get one. Found a new in box on ebay, Im assuming from a guy buying out the stock when HD was clearing them out. $170 shipped. Didnt want to spend more than what they were in the store, but for the price, that seemed like my best bet.
Got it. Set it all up and its puking oil out the drive shaft into the electric motor. Email the guy and he game me a full refund. Told me to just keep the compressor, he didnt want it back. Ok, cool. Money back, no sweat off my back.
Then yesterday, a 20 gallon CH cast iron, belt drive, oil lube came up on Craigslist. Runs perfectly and so nice and quiet. Snagged that up for $175, hose included. Super happy with that. Much better of a compressor.
Icing on the cake is, for the heck of it.. I contact Husky/HD and ask them about the little 10 gallon guy. I have no receipt because I technically didnt get it from HD. They went back and forth with me and said, yes its the seal between the motor and pump... Which I figured. Unit isnt even a year old from manufacture. I was wanting to see if I could just buy the seal and fix it myself. They dont have that part they said for sale. They said as a one time warranty they will send me a complete pump and drive assy. So that ends up being a whole free compressor since I was already refunded the full price. Will be a good little backup/loaner compressor.
Short version: Got these 2 all said and done for $175 total. Feels like a pretty good deal...
