I have to ask, there is another thread about "show us your compressors" And in that thread there are lots of guys who have purchased used compressors, some almost 50 years old. Are they not just as stupid as the guy using PVC? That tank could blow at any time.

If you get a good, well maintained compressor there is no more reason for it to explode than a new one from Harbor Freight. Old tanks are generally thicker. A few weeks ago I dragged home a big old tank from 1948, and I was a bit worried how rusty it might be. I removed the plug on the top so I could look inside, there was NO RUST!! It even had some kind of black coating inside. Plus, the tank is 1/4" thick - half of it could rust away and it would still be fine!
