Just got this CH 80gal 2 stage at a steal of a price. Plan on using it for automotive repair painting and more importantly Plasma Cutting. What separator dry set up should I get.

I have the TP water separator also and it works good. I live near the Al / Fl border and it is very humid. My compressor is like yours. I did a mod to it to cool the air. I installed two automotive A/C condensers , in series, between the compressor and the tank. My compressor is just outside my garage under a lean-to. I took some copper line from my compressor and connected it to the A/C condensers and from the condensers back to the tank. It cools GREAT. You wouldn't believe how hot that compressed air gets. You will burn your finger at the beginning of the first condenser but room temp at the outlet of the second condenser. This really cuts down on the amount of water in the tank. I hope you follow what I did.

James-W I only run 80 PSI normally but I have bumped over 100 a couple of times. This installation is about 2 yrs old-no problems.

Yea my biggest problem was finding a regulator that could handle my pressure. All the ones I found the inlet was 150 psi Max. Bought the black CH 210 psi Max on amazon for 88$

theres two kinds of max psi generally. most the max adjustable psi is usually 150PSI, then the max burst psi is 250-300psi.

i just redid all the compressor parts outside my 5hp T30 setup and i got a couple of these and they work great.

after seeing too much moisture in my blaster im going to put one of these in also and have to hookup my motorguard filter too, but pay attention to the filters max psi the motor guard plasma filter only can handle 125psi so now i have to regulate it down before the tool again. or put the filter inbetween the tool and regulator.

They Syi inlet side 150psi. Max. My compressor pushes 175psi. So I need the higher one. Right? I don't plan on using higher then 135psi

i had the same problem with mine i wanted a 1/2npt pressure regulator that went upto 175psi. what i found is they are hard to find for decent prices.

so what i did was plumbed in a coupler for 175psi unregulated.

and then put in a regulator to knock it down to 150psi, you then can put another regulator to knock it down to whatever psi you need for the filters and such.

if your trying like me to utilize the 175psi 2 stage compressor the first regulator is to hold the tank pressure back at your set PSI, the 2nd regulator will drop it down to what you need to use.

i tried running just one regulator at say 125psi but it kept bleeding down until the compressor kicks on again it wouldn't bleed down cause of the pressure differential of the switch.

and if you dont want to use 2 regulators, you can just turn your pressure switch down to 150psi or 135psi. but you wont have that additional amount of air to draw from 175psi is more volume of air then 135-150psi.

I wonder how much water gets caught by the separator, and how hot the top of that red hose gets in post 9...

I can touch it with my hand so it's not that hot. The seperator is not as useful as I had hoped it always has water in it when I drain just not alot. alot more water comes out the auto drain it shoots a 4 ft vapor on the floor when the compressor cycles.

I have to plumb in my HF air drier next

If you are going to paint cars you should get a refrigerated air dryer.
If you are only painting occasionally, an aftercooler setup with one of those disposable inline desiccant dryers should be OK.

You don't want a lubricator if you are painting. Lubricators should only be installed on a line dedicated to an air tool. Be aware filters do not remove humidity from air.

Good to know. I'm gonna detach the lubricator but was cheap enough to buy both I was gonna run a tee and put that to my impact gun line
