At Christmas I received a Craftsman pancake style compressor. I have no air tools only a need to occasionally air up a tire or blow some debris from the workbench. My question is since the compressor may set for weeks between uses and unplugged obviously, should I leave the drain valve open or closed? Thanks. CJDave.

Like you, I rarely use my CM compressor. I use it only to fill the occasional tire and to blow the dust off my work bench.

I just leave the drain open since I drain it every time I use it. I suspect it will rust less if I leave it open. I live in dry southern California.

Leaving the valve open is what I have been doing and will continue to do so based on the opinions here. Thank you all, Gentlemen. CJDave.
