Compressor to regulator isolation

I have been studying the air compressor threads to see how a compressors vibration is isolated. I see allot of folks using a flexible line. I have searched for size information but have not found any.

I want to run a short piece of air hose from my compressor to my regulator. I picked up a 20 inch hose at Sears but the ID looks very small, and I would have to put a reducer in the tank just to accept the air hose fitting.

Is there a standard used when connecting a flexible line to the "air out" on a compressor?

Thanks.

I used something just like that. Picked it up at a military/industrial surplus store for about $7.

Prior to that, i used a piece of stainless-braided plumbing hose normally used for hooking up faucets. Seemed to work ok, but i was never really sure of the pressure-holding capability, or long-term durability. But, i just ran across that piece of "real" braided hose, and it was cheap enough, so i changed it out.

Many people use a short piece of rubber hose.

I would put the regulator near the end of your hardline & not up near the compressor. Reasons for this are: 1. you will not have as much pressure drop at your tools, 2. If you have a regulator/water separator combo the water vapor will pass right thru it & condense out on your line/hose where if it was mounted at the end it would catch the water & keep it from getting into your tools. For a hose I would go to a place that makes hydraulic hoses & have them make up one that will thread into your compressor & the pipe you are using, I had one 8' long & 1" ID made up for 35.00 out the door.
