As I am putting my garage together my next step is going to be sorting out the compressor system. I have a few questions I am hoping the veterans here can help with to help my decision be the best one.
The original plan:
Build a compressor room for an oiled compressor. This room would be insulated for sound and the compressor would sit on rubber blocks and if needed have intake and outlet mufflers installed.
This seems ideal as maintaining the compressor would be easy.
The new possible plan:
Put a non oiled compressor in the attic and plumb a drain line to it with a valve for easy draining without having to go into the attic.
This would free up valuable floor space and save costs on the compressor as non oiled compressors are generally cheaper. Maintenance is also more simple at the cost of a shorter life.
This method could be harder to sound dampen as the compressor would be sitting on the framing of the garage as opposed to the concrete slab.
I am really on the fence here. What do you guys think?
