Has anyone here rebuilt the valves in a quincy 310? They do not look like they can be taken apart but I don't know. Here's a picture. There is nowhere to get a wrench on there, but there is a disc and spring inside.

Yes I believe I have rebuilt them. Its a good idea to have them ground if you do.

Make sure its blanchard ground.

Ill put up some more pics at lunchtime. This valve assembly is held in the head with the valve retainer ring which screws in. This assembly does not actually move, just the disc and spring inside of it. There are no external threads, and nothing on it looks like I can take it apart. Bsaint, how do I take this apart? There is nowhere to get a tool on it, does it press apart on that silver ring at the bottom? I don't see any part that would need a grinding, there is just the silver washer that sits down in the head. I think that is the old sealing washer. All the dark metal looks like one solid piece.

Riiiight. Im thinking of a different compressor. Its been 4 years since I was in the industry. But I swear we sold rebuild kits to change the guts in those. It has to come apart since it was assembled somehow. Can you take a pic of the top and bototm?

I certainly will, Ill have them posted around one or two central time. I know it has to come apart as well, I just cannot fathom how! Several vendors online and locally do have rebuild kits for sale.

So I just talked to quincy tech support, and he said they are press fit. Told me to clamp the very bottom in a vise and tap it side to side with a hammer. I will do that and post pics today. He thinks the silver ring is the old sealing washer, ill tap that off first.

In other news, here is my finished tank

The insides of the tank appear solid. It is a STOUT tank. Doesn't look like too much rust, water comes out clear.

So the guy was absolutely right, just clamp the very bottom in a vise and tap the top side to side and it came apart extremely easy. Way easier than everything else, but that's another story.
