Compressor venting question

For those who have plumbed a line into the bottom of their compressor how did you end up venting the line?

I had a quick shutoff ball valve and used to just let it blow out on the floor but that resulted in water/rust "spray" on the floor. I thought about venting a line to the outside of the garage by drilling a hole in the wall but am concerned about the line freezing in the cold months.

I am not plumbing in an automatic drain, manual is fine I just want it to be clean and not screw up down the road.

Any input is appreciated

Do like me....hook up a piece of polyflow tubing (plastic 1/4") over to a convenient spot...when you have pressure on it...vent it...any water will be blown out.

I used a piece of plastic tubing stuck through the back wall of the garage. No issues with freezing, as there's really no water left in the tubing when it's done draining, it will have been blown out by the air.

I have a 120 VAC auto vent setup from Ingersal Rand, I made a metal plate that is welded to one of my Compressors Legs.
It had a 90 degree brass fitting under my tank that connects to the Auto vent with a Push-in Plastic tube.
I Used some black iron pipe, a square steel washer, a 90 and a Fitting with rubber hose.
I drilled a hole through the back wall, and screwed the plate to the wall, ran the hose to the auto drain exhaust port.
it 90's down instead blasting staight out the wall...
so every 30 minutes, it exhausts for 20 seconds.

How 'bout the cheap way -- exhaust into a 2-liter bottle on it's side with a bungie to hold it in place? The water would prolly evaporate, but you could empty it manually too. Excess air could exhaust through holes punched in the top side of the bottle.

I just let mine vent out because it's never that much. A buddy of mine with a bigger compressor has some vinyl tubing run into an old Gallon Jug... Just don't open it full blast and it drains okay.

I just set a plastic container under the drain when I drain the tank. That way, none of the mess is in the garage.
My compressor puts out almost no water. After a hard all day run, I'll get less than 1/2 tsp of water from the tank, so even a coffee cup would be too big to catch that water
