Compressor Wall mounting

Hello,

I put in a little garage work last weekend and thought I would try and create more space. I finally wall mounted my Coxreel and thought I would do the same for my Dewalt compressor.

Can anyone tell me if the compressor can be run this way? Reason I asked is because I just showed my Dad and he said the compressor could f*** up because it needs to be working in the flat or upright position instead of vertical. This is because of the way the oil is now laying. Can anyone confirm this? I was going to call Dewalt and ask them if I could run my air compressor upright.

If I can't I may just build a platform so it can run flat. Here are the pics to show you what I am talking about.

I'm not familiar with that particular compressor but are we sure it's oiled? Seems most of the portables that I've seen aren't. OP - what's the model number?

It appears to have a crank case filler cap.

I have that same model compressor. It can not be run in that position. It has to be sitting on the rubber feet. It is oil lubed. You can see the dipstick in the first photo. I don't even store my compressor vertically. Only when I carry it around.

As they said above, build a little shelf for it if you want it off the floor. You can even drill a hole in it to make draining the tank a breeze.

That looks like a pretty small compressor for anything more than maybe a nail gun. The corner space you have would be perfect for a vertical compressor.

The oil in the conpressor probably won't circulate properly, won't last long. 2-3 cycles

Thanks, a shelf for the compressor has been built, pic to follow.

Build a shelf or the compressor will be junk due to poor or zero oil circulation.

Thanks Bob, did exactly what you said :D

I keep forgetting the model # but it is oiled.

Yup, oiled.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

Listen to dad.

Dope! The Old Man is right again! :D

I built the shelf and will drill the hole tomorrow for drain. Check out the pics soon.

Yeah, its a nail gun compressor, it was given to me by my Pop's. I mainly use it for air pressure and blow gun. I have an air impact gun but gave that up when I bought an IR battery impact gun. I really don't have many air tools. However, you are right, a vertical compressor will fit nicely in that spot.

Thanks for all your input, this is what I was working on today. The shelf is very sturdy and I can give it more support by adding another 2x4 underneath the shelf. Check it out and tell me what you think. I am very happy with my setup. My only gripe is I am blocking the sprinkler valve (white door on drywall) but I can just remove the compressor and have access. I could have lowered it but I like it at that height, its easier access for me and does not block water access as much.

Very nice shelf. Compressor will appreciate having oil to run....LOL

Put a hanger on the 2x below for hanging the air hose and you will be all set

Haha, which reminds me ill probably change the oil. My Coxreel above has the air hose.

atikovi, it probably is...but i can easily remove the compressor out of the way. Lets wait for a code expert to chime in.
