I can buy a 60 gallon 7 HP Campbell Hausfield compressor for $469.00

This seems like a really good deal. Any suggestions?

what type? # of cylinders? oil-less or cast iron? 220v or 110v?

If it's a 2 or 4 cyl, 220v, cast iron (oil bath), it's a nice unit. I've got one and it runs 24-7 sometimes (made for continuous duty).

and where are you getting it, i might want another!

What are you going to use it for? If its just for filling tires and such, it will be fine. I have had one of those, (6.5 HP so-called horsepower), for about 10 years now, and I'm going to upgrade soon. I do a lot of grinding and sanding with mine, and it will NOT keep up. They make these things for us, and they look like a real compressor, smell like a real compressor, but definitely don't act like one. I go to a friend's commercial shop, and he has a commercial quality Quincy, a real 5 horsepower one, would probably cost $4000.00 new, and I bead blast in his big commercial cabinet. His compressor won't keep up to continuous blasting, either. I'm gonna upgrade to an Eaton compressor, rated for 32 cfm, actually puts out over 20 cfm, and it should do the trick. It needs a real 7.5 HP motor, that weighs as much as a Volkswagen (well, not quite). John V.O.

I have something like his and mine will out perform all the ones it has been put up against. It isn't top of the line but does everything I have tried to do with it.

What do you plan on doing with it? 10 CFM is nothing. a ture 7.5 should be making close to 30cfm. My 5 puts out 20cfm. 10 Cfm will run ana impact and a ratchet, but you wont get full power out of the impact, and youll be waiting for air after a little while with the ratchet. Look for something around 15cfm, or more, if you want to use grinders, a high end air ratchet, or a paint gun.

Just remember guys that HP has little relation to CFM...anybody can put a 5 or 7.5 HP motor on a small pump...yeah it's a big HP but the little pump negates the effect.

I DO suggest a MINIMUM of 15 CFM to use ANY sander, grinder or ar ratchet.

My 18 CFM is OK....but not for sandblasting or my DA...
