Hey guys, I hate making decisions such as this and I am sure we have all been through them. I have been looking for a nice sized air compressor, doing some searching online and in stores. I am intending to start media blasting a auto restoration project I got going on and needed some suggestions and info on some compressors.
The Ingersoll Rand SS3L3 60 Gal. ($650.00) is the one I am leaning more towards but the PSI (135) and CFM's run shorter than most compressors. I honestly think that this compressor is more than good enough for everyday use on various air tools but my concern is blasting. It is up to spec on the blaster I am looking at in regards to CFM's but I keep reading to take into consideration a few more CFM's to whatever you will be using for headroom. This compressor is just over what the Blaster is recommending.
I was also looking at the Kobalt 60 Gal. 155 PSI compressor ($499.00) with much more CFM's than the IR, it will save me $150 but is that a negative sign? More power, less money? I always read reviews and thats what always has me second guessing a product. This compressor has good reviews but I am still unsure if it will keep up with the strain of the blasting.
One more I would like to throw at you guys is another Kobalt compressor, this one is 80 Gal 155 PSI with sufficient CFM's ($849.00). In all reality my main priority at this moment is keeping this thing strong for blasting soda and other abrasives (no sand) after that part of the project is complete I will only be using for smaller heavy duty tools such as grinders, spray guns, etc.
In all honesty its a bit intimidating this huge cylinder but if I dont need such a beast Ill be content with the 60 Gal compressor.
Anyways if anyone has any info on similar compressors from the make's I mentioned or suggestions on what I am planning to use the comp. for and blasting. lemme know
