Anyone ever mount a larger (2 stage, 80gal) compressor on heavy duty casters to make it mobile?? The 3 legs have the bolt holes that would handle mounting a pin mount caster. My compressor isn't hard wired so having the ability to move it around/out of the way could be handy.

We put our compressor on a heavy duty dolly so we can move it around depending on the piece of equipment we are working on.

sounds like it could get tippy
if you really want to have it on wheels I would bolt it to a wider base that you attach the wheels to

I have 3 compressors.
60 gal stand up mounted outside
20 horizontal roll around unit
and a small portable unit (bought to drive nail guns) that I can take with me for many off site purposes

Maybe fab something up like nissan_crawler did for his Craftsman tool box at work. There is a thread on this somewhere... maybe he will repost the pics.

On just the three legs it might be a little unsafe. I left mine on the shipping pallet and just added steel casters from tractor supply. It has been like that for a couple of years. It is very stable, I have only had to move once since it has been like this but, it worked great. If i had to move all the time I would build a little stronger base for it. I have a buddy that has a horizontal 160 gal compressor and he has wheels on his and he moves it two to three times a week but, he has big 8" casters on his and it is a horizontal unit.

another option
leave it on the pallet and then kat a pallet jack for when you want to move it

I know a guy that has all of his equipment on pallets (standard pallets or ones he has made) and has a pallet jack.
he moves things around based on what he needs at the time
