My shop plans started out on paper as a 26x30 with 12 foot walls. So, I had my buddy come over with his skid steer to do some dirt work and get it ready for concrete grade. Well, a lot of things look different when you put up a string line and see how the layout will work vs what’s written on paper. Staying 10’ off my property line, (I live in the city) really pushed my shop built over too close the the wife’s ‘she shed’. I want to drive a truck between my shop and her shed with a truck. After a bunch of thinking and string line changes (looks like I was building a dream catcher) I decided on a 18x40 shop. This will be a monolithic pour. Plan on 12 ft walls. This is the beginning stages. I plan on an offset garage door. Hopefully a 12 ft wide. Maybe bigger. Any insight or comments or concerns are welcome. Wish me luck. Let the fun begin…2C1F9014-74E6-4AF4-B492-E57C740222E0.jpeg93F29B42-14FE-4A77-A106-B8C8B72F177C.jpeg133CE086-15A9-4D99-BB6F-5BBA35255557.jpeg

Take down the she shed and incorporate it into the new construction.

Do you have an extra form set up for any leftover concrete? Sidewalk, trash can pad, etc?
Small stepping stones poured on plastic sheets to m.

Hate to see it wasted.

I hope you have a good day and everything goes well.

I haven’t set up an extra forms yet. I still need to brace up the pour..put some kickers on it.
We’ll see.
Hope everything goes well too. Plan to pour it next week. We will see.

I offset the single main door on my 20x37 shop too.

In hindsight, the 12' wide door could have been 10'. Didn't need the door that close the corner since I ended up with ~24" of toolboxes/shelving on that side wall.

In rereading from the beginning you always planned for a offset door , but for those that have OCD......why?
It looks awesome to me but I don't have OCD much ...... offset for more room on one side being only 18 ft wide I assume?
Plans for inside finishing?

The main reason for the offset door is for the driveway. The pitch of the driveway to match my existing driveway is going to be steep on one side. So, placing the door offset will help some, in addition, more space on one side of the garage for storage.

Plan on a 13 foot attached workbench on the far end. Floor to ceiling shelving…..and room for the beer fridge. 😂
