Cryptic1911 thanks for sharing this with us. This will have far ranging applications within the welding industry. I work for one of the leading welding automation companies and just sent a copy of this video to our company president and vice-president. It will be interesting to see their reaction.

Many of our customers use weld vision systems along with our automation controls to perform some of the most critical welds made. The quality of the existing weld vision systems leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm just going to preface my comment with that I don't want to start a "dey took are jobs" argument.

Aside from current vision aided welding systems that can be improved upon. Even many manual welding processes in production environments can be automated with the quality of data that the HDR system can provide to a welding robot.

My only question is...

Why the heck didn't they get someone who actually knows how to weld? Bad enough it's put together with hot glue and duct tape

Super cool... plus... Aside from welding... other applications I thought this tech would be invaluable...

Pilots, Truck Drivers, Surgeons, Any Motorsport... the list goes on. Come back here in 20 years and we'll all have Steve Austin eyes for $600, not $6mil
