One of the benefits of concentric venting is the balanced nature of the air flows. Exhaust and comb air have the same pressure drop balancing the flow. It is possible that additional pipe on o the exhaust may be enough o trip the pressure switch.

It should be fine the heater is has about 4' of run before it goes in the concentric vent. adding a couple feet to the exhaust side should be fine for the flow.
