Concrete cost per cubic yard?

I know there is a difference depending on region but how much is concrete where you are at?

I called a couple weeks ago on 13 yards, was just under $1400 delivered. That was me, a random person off the street person. I will be having my floor poured in two weeks and the guy I'm using gets a little bit of a discount, so I hope to come in at less than that. From what I'm hearing though, around $100/yard is the going rate.

Depends on the strength and mix design.

Around Baton Rouge, LA a commercial contractor can get 3500psi ash mix for about $103/CY delivered.

Figure $105-$110 for a residential customer out of the blue. Loads less than 5 CY will be extra charge.

I think that is about what it is here. I have not called anyone yet, was just thinking about building and thought people here would know. When I built my garage (about 30 yrs ago) I think it was about $40.

Yeah things jumped with the price of fuel around the mid 2000's or so as you could still get it delivered in the $80's back then.

Now the price of fuel went back down the price stayed up. Prices never seem to go down.

Where I am the cost of concrete delivered is about $110 per yard. Some companies charge a little more and some charge a little less, but it averages right around $110 per yard. Who you get to do the pour makes a pretty big difference in-so-far as labor costs goes. Sometimes you can get a company that is in a "slow time" and then you can get a really good deal. But if you hire the work done, get a really good concrete crew or you can have a lot of problems down the road. It will no doubt cost you a bit more money to hire a really good crew, but it will be well worth it in the long term.

How far they go to deliver is figured into the price also. I had 3 yards of fiber concrete delivered, cost me a little over 400 and that was contractor price. James-W is right about getting a good crew, don't try to save money on the crew, the key to getting good concrete is the guys doing the work, they will know where to order the concrete and what mix is best. There's a lot more to concrete work than most people think, you need guys that know and care about there work. It's damn hard work, the good guys deserve to be paid well.

UPS adjusts the fuel surcharge every month based on the national cost of diesel as of two months prior. The ground surcharge is going down a quarter percent on June 1st. See http://www.ups.com/bridge/fuelsurcharge.html

Concrete demand is sky high in my area right now. No reason to drop the price of concrete when you can sell every bit you can produce. Last year at least one road project was delayed as they couldn't get concrete.

Poured my floor about 4 weeks ago, concrete was $106 a yard, add $5.00 a yard for fiber and they added a $50.00 charge for Saturday delivery. 23 yards of concrete.

$105 a yard here for 3000PSI delivered $7 a yard more if you want fiber added, $15 if you want it on a Sat, and $20 fuel surcharge if you get less than 5 yards. Keith

That would be awesome. Please PM me his info. Im designing my shop now, but it will be at least 3200 ft^2 of 4" concrete, maybe more for sidewalks and a partial driveway. Thanks.

Just to update my previous post.

Poured my floor yesterday. 16 yards of 3500psi cost me $1600. That was two trucks with Saturday delivery. Pretty sure I got the "contractor" price though as the guy I had order it deals with them on a daily basis.

Can't tell your location on your profile, and I don't want to call anyone a liar, but I find this very difficult to believe.

Around BR, LA those costs have not been seen since pre Katrina times...

Although, there are some very low concrete costs in areas with plentiful limestone deposits (San Antonio, TX for example).

I remember my grandad said he was quitting the construction business when concrete went to $30 a cubic yard and 8' studs went to a dollar. He also said that he would quit smoking when a pack of cigarettes hit a quarter.

Just bought 2.5 yards of 4000 psi and it cost me $500 delivered so that's about $200 a yard in Mooresville NC just north of Charlotte. It was a small load so the road fee made the cost per yard greater and its booming with construction around here so high demand.

I just finest having my garage and some pads done today and it was $107 delivered plus tax a yard with fiber 4000 psi /no air mix, and finer stone for the pump wagon was 64 yards total.

I bought 4000 psi for a sidewalk two weeks ago, $85 a yard delivered with a 3 yard minimum. They charge @110 if you cant meet the minimum.

On one of our larger industrial accounts, we get concrete in the upper $60 range, but it's loaded with slag & flyash, we generally pour ~200 yards each pour, and we are usually done pouring by 7:30 in the morning, so it's considered "bonus yardage" for the ready-mix supplier. Otherwise, typical concrete prices for a straight 6 bag with low-chert stone is over $100 yard............
