Concrete Crazing

New pad, poured on 9/30 and this is showing up. Cannot feel with a fingernail. Washing it down makes it harder to see, but when dry show as below. Did some searching and it appears to be crazing, where the top surface drys to fast. Crazing appears to be only .004 thick and about twice as deep. Not to much of an effect on the structural nature of the pad, just a visual eyesore.

Has anyone dwelt with this before, and would epoxy sealer make it go away? Not unhappy with the pad, but not to thrilled either.

Picture shows a 6" x 4" view, so they are not that big. Just talked to the concrete guy and he says they are heat cracks, and they are not really cracks, just surface marks. They could go away. Caused by the surface drying to fast. After I clean, with muriatic acid, they may go away. We'll see next week.

If the problem doesn't go away after you clean the floor with muriatic acid, maybe you could get a sealer with some sort of tint in it that would camouflage the way it looks.

diamond grind it and have a pro apply a good epoxy/polyurethane system

That ain't happening :p It's a working garage/shop/Home CF box ... nothing fancy. It would be nice if the floor had a lttle shine, like below. Really like the look.

Most I'm doing is washing it, etching it, sealing it and then watching it. Hopefully it'll stay just a visual issue.

If it escalates beyond that ... we'll see.

clear sealer (acrylic, epoxy or polyurethane) will not hide your crazing...if anything, it will accentuate them.

Definitely an interesting character. You could enhance it further with a waterbase (non-acrylic) stain before sealing for a more defined look. Or if you don't want the maintenance of a film-forming sealer just use a lithium densifier. We have the same phenomenon in our showroom under the "stain chart" and that's after grinding to remove contaminants all the way to aggregate in some places. Funny when contractor's customers ask if they can produce the same effect in their stained floor.
