concrete driveway removal & new - est. cost?

Wasn't going to do it initially (as part of my detached garage build), but now I'm wondering...
Anyone have an estimated per sq ft cost of removing existing concrete slab and re-pouring a 'standard', flat driveway? I'm probably looking at doing about 1000 sq ft. Thanks.

$5.50 - $8sq/ft, in the twin cites, not including removal. You get what you pay for in that price range. Just have to decide what is acceptable. I just did concrete aprons, patio, and am doing asphalt for the driveway. I couldn't justify the price of concrete (2x-3x more) for the driveway, although, it was my preference.

Yep - crew starts in 2 weeks. Going to tear out my asphalt and replace with concrete .... 6" base ..5" concrete... #6 flat wire mesh (4200 sq ft) = $23k (including haul away).

seems like a lot but I agree... it is a good price - had higher quotes for sure.

Tearout can vary widely, but just had 2000sq ft of garage poured and 2400sq ft of basement pumped a month ago for $2.60/sq ft or 11,000 and change total for 4,340sq ft in metro Detroit

I used a bobcat with hydraulic breaker to break up my old driveway (13 yards concrete) and then was able to bury it and use it as fill. I broke it up into fist size pieces so it would work good as fill. Took about 6 hours or so to break it up in such small pieces. As I own the bobcat the hours didn't cost just the rental on the hammer. Cost to demolish about $200 for hammer rental.. Graded and laid rebar myself and then paid an individual to pour and finish and cut slab afterwards. Paid $600 for labor plus $80 a yard for concrete.
The more you do yourself the more you save. I had tried to pour it myself but don't have the strength to work that much that quick, so I paid to get it done. I used the same individual to pour the rest of my drive way of about 30 yards, that required a $1100 pump truck rental that I did not expect. Ended up being more than I expected but a whole lot less than estimates as I did most of the setup and rebar work before the concrete men got here.

That price was from 10 or more years ago. Now its neighborhood of $135 or so a yard last I heard. I had bought concrete as low as $40 a yard but that was 40 years ago... Prices have sure changed but thank goodness so have pay rates.

I just ripped up a 25'x25' carport slab w/ 2'x25' apron in preparation for my garage build. Contractor quoted me $1600 to rip out and haul off. Cost me $100 for the jack hammer rental and $50 or so in fuel for the truck to haul it to the dump (5 miles away). Then another $5 for the Motrin for my back. Total weight on that slab was 35620 lbs (according to the scales at the dump). County lets me dump it for free. For a 580 square foot apron he quoted me $1900.

I'm a cheap SOB, so i can't swallow the $1600 to do mindless labor I am capable of. I would suggest you look into ripping the old out yourself if you are able bodied. Took me a total of a week to break it up and haul out. Two days to jack hammer it into football sized pieces. Carried a couple loads each afternoon afterwork. Then carried the rest on Saturday morning. I have an F250, so I was able to carry 2500 lbs per load. That made for a total of 14 loads or so. Lot of labor, but that $1600 will buy me lots of nice tools to help me build the garage.

Based on my numbers, I would guess close to $5k for tear up and install of new driveway for you. Assuming costs are the same in your area as mine.
