I have a 20 plus year old concrete driveway.(30'w taper to road to about 16' x 60' long). It's in relatively good shape except for some minor cracks and and small holes. There are no missing pieces etc..
I am looking to get it resurfaced professionally. Has anyone had this done and been happy with it? I live in Michigan and we get hard cold below freezing temperature Winters and hot Summer days. Is it worth having done and possibly getting 10 plus more years out of it or should I just leave it as is until it needs to be replaced? Or does anybody have any thing that would be better to do?
Thanks
Todd

I vote to leave it alone. I've never seen concrete 'resurfaced' that lasted more than a year before it cracks to hell. As soon as you spend money on repairs, you'll begin to fret about the condition even more. Something to be said about an old slab with patina that you don't really have to worry about vs. something you dropped a bunch of coin on and now worry about every little imperfection.

Concrete resurfacing is surprisingly durable if done correctly and the underlying substrate is sound and stable. It's a big job however to do properly and while it does protect the concrete a bit, it's mostly cosmetic

Many concrete repairs fail prematurely, not because of the repair itself but because the underlying concrete continues to move and/or deteriorate. Since resurfacing is only as good as the concrete it's applied to, it won't stand up on a slab with anything other than surface deterioration.

As long as your concrete is in relatively good shape, we carry a superb commercial grade driveway coating called Surface Bond. This is the exact same product NYC uses in their bike lanes and public plazas which see millions of vehicles on them annually. Its a great option if you don't want to hire out.
