Concrete driveway

Hi, first time poster. I just finished pouring a concrete drive way from my garage to the gravel road. I live rural South Dakota. What would be the best sealer to put on a hi traffic driveway?? Also the wife has been hinting about stain. I personally don't want to stain, I just want a top notch sealer to handle all weather conditions, any body have experience with this? It is roughly a 55 yard pour. 24 foot wide by ?? (off hand I can't remember the length) and 5.5 inches thick Thank you very much in advance for any help. Tom

Tom, we have many to check out (HD6525MMA, 6600MMA, etc...)
Anything placed outside will naturally degrade so it is a maintenance item.

I would not bother with an acid stain on a driveway. I did a patio and it looked awesome for about two years....then the glossy sealer needs updating and I didn’t do it. So now 10 years later it looks really dull and weathered. The gloss sealer will make your driveway slick.

A penetrating sealer is what I would apply and leave it at that.

I don't think I would go with a stain either, I would think just a sealer would be the way to go. On the other hand, it's best not to make the wife upset.

I need to install a new driveway (about 4400 sq ft) and am trying to decide between asphalt and concrete.
What was your reasoning for going with concrete? Did you compare cost to asphalt?

Look into ghost shield products. They are uv proof if using the 8505 or 8510. They also resist salt and automotive fluids. They penetrate the concrete.

I'm thinking concrete will give you more years of service compared to asphalt.

HI, yes, the reason I went concrete was the longer lasting, less maintenance, there will occasionally be heavy equip. on there. The cost is only slightly more but around here people are always resealing and retopping their asphalt drives.

I agree...much longer lasting. Here is our pour from 2004 and today's patina.

A sealer was applied once in the second year.
