So I need a new driveway. About 1500 sq feet. I need the old one demo'ed and a new one installed. Looking if anyone has any idea at how much something like that will cost?

Do I need mesh installed also?

Thanks

My WAG - $1000 ripout and disposal. $3000 install.

This is based on my recent experience with concrete work. I had 625 sq ft of carport slab a contractor quoted me $500 to rip up and dispose of. I got a jack hammer from United Rentals on a Friday and broke it up over the weekend. Then hauled it to the landfill one truck load at a time. Turned out to be 30k lbs of concrete (kept the dump slips). That was 15 loads in the bed of my truck to the dump. More work than it was worth.

I need a 500 sq ft apron and a sidewalk poured. The concrete guy I used for the garage floor quoted me $2k.

Again, these are my wild *** guess based on my experiences. YMMV.

Dont know about cost in your area. I had mine done last year. Make sure you discuss with your contractor here it will drain and slopes for drainage. Make sure they know you dont want mini little lakes every where after a rain. And if there are leaves blowing around when its being finished mention that you dont want them stuck in the finish. And if you want it colored make sure it will all match when done. Just a few things that happened to mine.

See if you can get fiber reinforced 'crete and I'd still put re-bar or at least mesh in it. Make sure they don't "hump" the middle: pull a string across both directions of the forms before they pour. If you do bar or mesh reinforcement, make sure they pull it up into the middle of the concrete - it does zero good on the bottom (I've caught this one several times). Have no idea where you are so can't say on costs, if you get 3 bids you'll probably be good...

It's been a while, but I used to charge a $1.00 a sq foot to tear out concrete with a tractor and haul it off for my concrete buddues.
It's been probably 15 years since I've done it though.

I paid about $13k for nearly exactly what you described, but with rebar, last year.

At 1500 sq ft, 4 inches thick at $125/yd3 for the concrete itself, you are at $2500 just for the concrete itself.

Add in the gravel and formwork and excavation and labor to place the concrete, and I usually ballpark the cost as around how much the concrete costs. So at least another $2500 in labor and gravel.

Anything 'fancy' on the concrete and the cost goes up.

So at least $5k just for plain concrete installed at 4 inches thick.

That's close to TT's $4/ft2 price ($5k vs $6k).

Add in the demo cost and removal/dump cost and permit costs and I could see a WAG of $10k or more by the time you are done.

OK, my guess before I called anyone was about $6000 to $9000. I was a stair carpenter my whole life and I hate to waste peoples time with getting a ton of estimates so I wanted to see if I was off base.

I had one guy come over, his price; $9000 to demo and haul. $8000 for concrete and labor. $850 to finish grade. Total; $17,850. Keeping in mind, this is as described, nothing fancy, nothing difficult, just flat grade, 1500sq ft. I figured the concrete was about $2000 to $2500, so it seems $15000 in labor was high. That was with no rebar or mesh.

Four years ago, including tear out of (asphalt) drive, dirt work, forming, wire and rebar my 1300 sqft drive was 6500.
Critical importance: do you have a government entity to appease? My project took a turn from my plan as soon as I went for the City permit.
My plan was simple, 66' long and the property is on the crest of a hill but the house sits lower than the street; I planned to have the drive simply dip down and then back up to the house to assure drainage would be down the center of the yard. The City, I learned, has very specific mandates on the the first fifteen foot of the drive (they consider this *THEIRS* btw).
1.) the drive must go UP from the street a minimum of ten inches in that fifteen foot (they couldn't care less what happens after the fifteen foot)
2.) The apron had to be at least 6" thick with specific rebar type size and placement
3.) 3500# concrete req'd
4.) they had to inspect the form and rebar before the pour.

Good idea to find out what's required before getting quotes that may not apply.
My resulting drive goes *up* and then down and then up again...

I was getting prices of $1200 to $2500 just to finish my 1 car attached garage. 12x26. Me supplying concrete. I had it 100% ready. I ended up finishing it myself with my brother in law.

Just got done building a new house, so far its been about $5.25 sq ft for concrete work. Had the garage floor and a double wide drive poured out from the house, if it ever stops raining here I need to pour a driveway out to the street, probably 150' and then connect my barn to this.

I would say you are going to be around 5K-6K. Mesh not needed, just make sure you have them prep the sub grade properly if its bad.

Around here, the cheap guys advertise their work for $4.50/s.f. That's basic 2500 psi poured 4" think. In reality, however, for a good job expect more like $6/s.f. That does not include demo and haul away of existing driveway.

I'm at 1.75 a sf for demo and haul away to recycler. extra if wire or bar. obviously for the specs you listed the 17 K quote was way out of line.
