Good afternoon.... Hope everyone is having a good holiday season.

Inquiring about the estimated/average cost that an individual should pay for concrete finish work. I understand location determines alot - the location is in south central Pennsylvania.

Estimate pricing a concrete crew that is to only pour ( concrete truck will be prearranged and paid by customer ), provide and install snip strips instead of saw cuts, finish with a concrete air trowel to a smooth surface ( burnished? ) and provide a spray on sealer to the surface - charge a customer?

Concrete crew will only have to show up - pour and finish the provided concrete. All primary work will be completed by customer before the pour.

How do most charge? Per person on crew - time - per square foot - per yard?

The dimisions of the slab is 22' x 35' x 6" = 770 square feet and 15 yards of concrete will be utilized.

This is an open area - slab only - no building to work around or inside.

Thank you.

As you mention, it varies geographically. Going rate around here for a professional crew to place and finish is $50/cy for smaller placements and .60 sf for larger floors. Add $1 lf to saw cut joints.

Here that costs $1.50 - $1.60 per square foot.

That's what I paid.

Your best bet is to call a few local places and get prices. Unless someone has experience and lives w/in 100 miles of you, asking for prices here doesn't make any sense.

doesnt matter who buy the concrete, its the same price. finishers depends on how hungry they are, usually a plain slab is $1.50 a square foot here, but you can get it cheaper by fly by night, tail light warrenty. i would not cheap on finishers, its easy to screw up and you be looking at it for years

Is it always commmon to focus on the race of the laborer? I guess I missed that. In that case I had one indian (feather, not dot) one white guy and one guy who looked suspiciously jewish but he was working awfully hard so I'm not sure.

Edit* On closer inspection of my work day pictures, he may have been Portuguese. :D

I just had a 3120 sq ft slab formed, dug, vapor barrier, steel supplied/placed, poured, machine finished, and saw cut for $1.40 per sq ft. Everything included but the concrete. That's in Southeast Louisiana. If the concrete contractor furnishes the concrete, make sure he pays for it or you could end up with a lien on the property.

Call the concrete company for recommendations on finishers. They work with them every day and have seen good and bad work and will recommend those that work good with them and give good jobs. Don't just depend on yellow pages go to the pro's at the concrete companies. Normally the best one's don't have to advertize to stay busy, just word of mouth and good reputations.

I think you might be surprised at the difference legitimate contractors negotiate for contracted concrete prices vs. what "Joe Homeowner" is paying............:)

Homeowners and "do it yourselfers" usually pay more. They take longer to unload the truck because they under estimate the labor and equipment needed for the job, Then they want to argue over the demurrage charge and complain that they were shorted on yield, or complain about plastic shrink cracks because the concrete wasn't properly cured, then write me a hot check that bounces. Professional concrete contractors know their business, buy in large volumes, know how to schedule, and are generally easier to deal with, so they get a price break.

Thank you for everyone that read my post. Thank you for everyone that answered my questions.

Since some persons are typing about concrete cost ( home owner or contracter )... what prices per yard only are people seeing?

I understand that PSI , chemical adds, hot water add, amount, etc.. determine pricing-
